Shadow ~ Part 2

Hey all! This is a really short part and I am sorry about that but... um... yeah.

Enjoy!

Carly was beginning to get worried. The sun was going down, and dangerous people come out around dark. Finally she decided to settle down in a sheltered cottonwood stand.

As soon as the sun went down, Carly began to get cold. She stared wishing for a fire.

Carly tried very hard to stay awake, being cold helped a little, but her eyes slowly began to close. She was certain she only closed her eyes for a second.

But when she started awake, there was someone sitting in front of her. Carly almost screamed, from surprise.

"How are you tonight?" the girl asked.

As Carly was almost certain she was about to be robbed, this seemed to be an odd question.

"Um... fine, I think... I mean, a little cold I guess..."

The girl slowly turned around.

"What is your favorite time of day?"

Now this question seemed so out of place, Carly thought it must be a code of some sort.

"Oh, uh... my, um, my favorite time of day?" Carly thought hard, but there was no obvious answer....

Suddenly she thought of all the times she had sat in the window sill with Mrs. Cabot and watched the sunset.

"Sunset."

"What did you say?" the girl whispered.

Carly gulped. That probably wasn't the right answer. The girl just stared at her, almost as if she was measuring Carly.

Suddenly she jumped up and cried, "What is that?!"

Carly fell for the ruse, hook, line and sinker, and quickly looked over her shoulder... and away from the girl.

Something heavy came down on her head with force. The last thing she heard before she blacked out was the girl's voice, "I'm sorry, but this is so much bigger than you."

Once Carly woke up, she saw she was being half carried half dragged along a dirt path by the strange girl. She was about to start struggling, but for some inexplicable reason she did trust this girl. Carly was lifted to her feet, and the girl said softly, "I know this probably won't help you understand, but you're different... and we need you. I'm Issa, and you can trust me."

So, while I was taking these pictures I could only picture Ruthie as a creepy doll from a horror movie, because she is kind of creepy in this part and it seemed weird that she had a dress on while ambushing someone.... Anyways I hope you enjoyed, and stay tuned for the next part!
